Woodworking

Main content start

Woodworking is a process of transforming wood and wood-like materials. The Woodworking Lab in the Product Realization Lab is used for rapid prototyping, pattern making for sand casting, and fine woodworking.

Certain species of wood, such as redwood, are considered toxic due to the reactivity of the dust that is formed when working with those materials. Domestic hardwoods such as maple, cherry, and walnut are often used for woodworking projects in the Lab.
